A few words about the new Shelter
Association is in the process of building our own Shelter for domestic violence
victims. The Shelter will be equipped to face to a greater extent the current
needs as we will be able to accommodate more people and offer upgraded and
better quality services.
Shelter has been designed according to the European standards for shelters and
will be able to accommodate up to 24 people. There will be separate areas for
treatment, education and entertainment of the guests. The building will also
house the rest of the Association''s programmes which are, the helpline 1440,
personal appointments, the psychoeducational programme "Love Without
Hurt", the European Help Lines for children''s and teenager''s support
116 111, and for Missing children 116 000. The Shelter will be separated
from the Crisis Centre.
cost of the construction is expected to amount to €1,035,122.00. Norway will cover
the amount of €742,198.00 through the financial program Norway Grants. The
remaining amount will be contributed by the Republic of Cyprus, OPAP and money the
Association has gradually put aside the past decade.
