Let us stop ignoring the bruises, whether visible and not, and to support the women who are subjected to violence, to all forms of violence. To claim from the state the immediate fulfillment of its obligation to provide every woman who is a victim of abuse security.

We urge you to commit to continued resistance and solidarity.
To act, not for only one day but every day against Violence Against Women.

In the last 15 years in Cyprus, there have been over 30 murders of women by a partner or an ex-partner. According to data from the Association for the Prevention and Combating of Violence in the Family (SPAVO), 89% of incidents of domestic violence during 2017 involved women. The 1440 victim support line for the year 2018 received a total of 14,404 calls, with the number having increased, since that line received 12,833 calls in 2017.

1 in 3 women on our planet including Cyprus at some point in her life will face violence: physical, psychological or sexual. This means ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS

The Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family (SPAVO) will participate in this year’s ONE Billion Rising campaign, which will be held on Sunday 10.02.2019 in Faneromeni Square in Nicosia.
